For two semesters, the Industrial Design id1 class at the University of Applied Arts Vienna has been investigating standardized building elements in light of climate change, leading up to the results of the rethinking the elements of architecture semester topic(s) being presented for the first time to an international audience at the SaloneSatellite in Milan from 18-23 April 2023.

The students projects were exhibited together as a form of collage, combining facade elements with indoor objects and photovoltaic projects. The exhibition was set up in such a way that the visitor would have the feeling of being inside a Viennese „Altbau“ living room looking out on the future city of Vienna through the windows. The view of this future city of Vienna was made possible with the help of Beyond visual arts, who helped visualise the students ideas as CGIs. The projects presented as CGIs envisioned the application of organic solar cells to generate energy at various locations in Vienna, while at the same time adding an aesthetic dimension to the cityscape, made possible by the new technology provided by cooperation partner and manufacturer of organic solar cells, ASCA.
