The Silent Services project consists of three stainless steel frames wrapped in elastic cords, resembling a modern interpretation of the so-called silent servant. These three designs question the journey our clothes take every day—from the closet to being worn, then into the laundry basket, into the washing machine, onto the drying rack, and finally back into the closet. In this cycle, one key link is missing: the chair. A place where we put clothes we’ve already worn but don’t want to wash yet because we plan to wear them again. A habit that reduces washing cycles and embraces the fact that we all can be a little messy at times. Key to the design is a simple aesthetic approach that prevents clothing piles and promotes air circulation. You can easily push your worn clothes into the elastics and pull them out again when needed. Silent Services is a design for everyday life, not just for the perfect day. It turns laundry chaos into a sculptural interior piece—and frees up your chair for sitting.
